Family is a place of stability. A place of nurturing. A home is where somebody is there to develop and provide a safe place — so that a child can thrive.

Children enter foster care with Lycoming Children & Youth for many reasons. Their family may be homeless or suffering from drug and/or alcohol addiction. Children may need to enter foster care because of abuse or neglect, or because their family is unable to meet their special needs. Children enter foster care when their family is unable to keep them safe.

We work hard to keep our Lycoming County kids in Lycoming County. We’re looking for local homes that can keep our kids here in their own communities. Children suffer trauma when they’re placed in foster care. We want to lessen that trauma by keeping children in their home community where they can attend their current school, maintain relationships with their friends and stay active in their normal activities.
